List of Levels

Awesome is the fourth level in the Special World, and is one of the most challenging levels in the game because it involves running and jumping over thin, slippery platforms whilist being bombarded by Banzai Bills and Flying Cheep Cheeps.

Upon entry, the player finds himself in a frosted, slippery grassland. This is the fourth level of the special world and the only level to feature an icy grassland, as well as being one of the few slippery levels in the game. The grounded winged yellow koopa is introduced in this level and rarely appears afterwards. The level is also one of the few to make a heavy use of the Star powerup, as well as the "arch" structures. The first half is akin to an ordinary grassland aside the slipperiness, while the second half of the level relies on architecture involving P-Switches, the Star and many short jumps all wrapped in a slippery undertone.

Special Notes

Awesome is the only level in Super Mario World to use an icy grassland palette. It is also the only level to feature Frozen Turn Blocks, Arch Ledges, and the Flying Cheep Cheep sprite. It is also noted for having one of the longest Star-runs in the original Super Mario World.
