Updating Guides

I really think that most of the guides on this site need some work (ASMWCP being the only exception). Therefore, I will be fixing the guides up to look more polished like the ASMWCP guide. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Akacesfan (talkcontribs) 10:27, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

New Design Test

So yeah, the main page seemed a bit cluttered, so I'm working on cleaning it up a bit. In case things go wrong, I've made a copy at User:K3fka/Old_main_page. That is all. ~K3fka 14:26, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

Update, I finished the new design. Please give me feedback through this discussion page, on SMWC through a PM, or on the IRC. I've also made the boxes that show articles that need help and articles that need images much easier to work with by making them templates, as I have also done with the categories box. ~K3fka 17:21, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

Consideration, something to put in

Some of these articles are really opinionated and are about as well structured as this sentence. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 1 (talkcontribs) 00:15, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Testing! Testing! —Preceding unsigned comment added by S.N.N. (talkcontribs) 03:46, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

Also, a note to people: When you leave a comment on a talk page, please sign it by typing four tildes (this thing -> ~ ). You can configure your signature by going to "my preferences". -K3fka 16:15, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

I know I am not a mod or anything but I need to make this.

I want to say, if you are making pictures or something, please make them big enoguh so if you are showing it, the text will show! I got really frusrated with some of the pictures being thin or way too small. Thank you!

How about making a seperate page like SMWiki:Guidelines to put things on there, and then link it on the navigation bar on the side. FreshPrinceTFP.pngTalk? C???
Oh also, could we use DPL on the main page. like where it says "These articles need to be expanded + images"? I think it's an extension for mediawiki, and also, if you didn't know, DPL is like an automatic thing that gathers data from the wiki and shows you the information you put in. Like if I put {{#dpl:namespace=Template|createdby=TheFreshPrince|mode=ordered|columns=1}}, it would show all the Templates ive made, in a numbered format. FreshPrinceTFP.pngTalk? C???
I, Ultimaximus, have completed the suggested Guidelines page.

Guidelines stuff

From the guidelines page: [http://gamefaqs GameFAQS]
Suggested change: [ GameFAQs] (wrong capitalizing, very likely broken link)

And the bottom part says that vandalism while not logged in will get you ipbanned. To my knowledge, you can't edit stuff without being logged in. This might need editing.
I would do this myself if I could, but it's locked. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alcaro (talkcontribs) 20:04, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

I, Ultimaximus, have verified and completed the suggested task.

Who thinks the main page needs a revamp?

--CommunistYoshi 14:20, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Okay guys,

We DO NOT need redirect pages like Cement Blocks that go to Cement Block. This can be easily done in a link by "piping". Piping is the process of making an article link look like something it is not. Use piping for plurals of an article or something that has an article. Example: omfg (Hover over the link to see it goes to the article Cement Block. Edit this page to see how it's done.) You can also do something like this: Munchers. Edit this page to see the difference. —ShadowFan-X 22:05, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Newbe question!

Nope, no n00bs today! :P —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mastertech2020 (talkcontribs) 19:45, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

Seriously? We don't have a sandbox? What kind of crap is that? Also, a page that shows the format for this Wiki would be nice. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Moltensnow (talkcontribs) 23:28, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Extensions which would be nice (and some more talk about state of wiki)

  • ParserFunctions - allows to make coniditonal templates, for example to make row in table not appear if it wasn't specified. (proposed by Glitch.Mr)
  • Check Spambots - checks if IP of user is known for sending spam. (proposed by K3fka)
  • Bad Behavior - extension which blocks bots before they'll get to do anything (check README for details). (proposed by Glitch.Mr)

If you have any other suggestions, feel free to insert them on list :).

Aside of that, the version used there is kinda old, 1.17.0 was already released and this uses 1.15.1. It adds for example possibility of deleting revisions forever (off by default), useful for example if some spammer would spam links to ROMs (because of nature of Wiki, old revisions are accesible).

Also, many of WikiMinistrators aren't active lately. There is list which I made.

  • Jorshamo (since May)
  • Pikaguy900 (last revision in May, but revision later was... in December 2010)
  • Smallhacker (since December 2010)
  • S.N.N. (since September 2010)
  • Supertails (last revision in April, but revision later was in February 2010)

I think we really need some cleaning on WikiMinistrators. Nearly nobody on SMWC is aware that SMWiki exists (maybe article on News would help?).

The other thing are tables. There is no usual styles for them, like class="wikitable" on Wikipedia.

Insert following into Mediawiki:Common.css to add support for wikitables

table.wikitable {
    margin: 1em 1em 1em 0;
    background: #f9f9f9;
    border: 1px #aaa solid;
    border-collapse: collapse;
    color: black;
.wikitable th, .wikitable td {
    border: 1px #aaa solid;
    padding: 0.2em;
.wikitable th {
    background: #f2f2f2;
    text-align: center;
.wikitable caption {
    font-weight: bold;
Header 1 Header 2 Header 3
Cell 1 Cell 2 Cell 3
Cell 1 Cell 2 Cell 3

If everything was done correctly, this table should be colored :).

BTW, can I apply for WikiMinistrator? I see a lot of spam and cannot do anything against it.

--Glitch.Mr 12:18, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

I replaced some spam pages with "Delete please".
I'ts my 2'nd day, and WTF! So much spammers!
PC Freak 10:51, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Even though you have a good intention, please don't do this. It essentially doubles our spam deletion work, as we detect spam pages through the recent changes page. The edits to spam pages just clutters everything up. Ersanio 10:58, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Ok, thx!

News Desk

Can we put some sort of news desk? You know, like an NBC News Feed or just a news station in smwiki. --MT2020 18:05, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

What news is there worthy of reporting on the Wiki? For all intents and purposes, Recent Changes works for those who care.

I don't know, like what's going on in SMWCentral? For people to catch up on the latest "buzz" on SMWC, could be a viable place to do so. --MT2020 17:57, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

I think SMWC's Youtube channel is a better outlet

Maybe, but I was thinking of making the News Desk like the "news room" in --MT2020 15:35, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

More spam

Due to the recent flood of spam I'm going to put whatever spam pages I find into the Pending Deletion and Spam categories. —ShadowFan-X 01:00, 22 August 2012 (CEST)
