The Wiki has been upgraded.

Welcome to the main wiki revamp page. It's no secret that the wiki is declining in popularity, so perhaps a revamp of sorts is needed to ressurect it. Please edit in your suggestions below and we will take them into consideration. Also remember, anything that just requires editing or creating articles can be done by anyone, not just the WikiMinistrators! — K3fka 13:08, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

More... useful hacking information in level articles (IN TABLES) such as where the level data is located, how big, etc. Include sublevels if necessary. Just a suggestion - Ersanio 13:15, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

Move the user pages into User namespace, LIKE OTHER WIKIS. It makes more sense and doesn't clutter the main wiki. --CommieYoshi 13:42, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

This. My user page actually got moved to a main page and I didn't understand what the point of it was, so I moved it back. —BlittleMcNilsen 19:02, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

Also restyle of infoboxes, tables, etc. This will enmcrease consistency in tables, make them sexier too. Plus the wiki retheme I made... --CommieYoshi 14:00, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

More information on emulators and other tools would be great. - FUGGNUTZ 20:44, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

Some plugins :). Parser Functions would be useful in making of templates, so hopefully... Maybe possibility of making article names to be different than to what "Contributions:" link leads to. Kieran's page is Kieran Menor, but his account is User:Kieran (so contributions link doesn't work). Some hackers don't have account on SMWiki, so the link would be useless... Also consistent tables using .wikitable styles :). It's boring to see complex styles on every table cell. I will also have to revamp my user page there, but I consider it private goal :). I went ahead and made smwcontrib a specifiable perimeter. Leaving it blank makes it the page name by default. —BlittleMcNilsen 22:52, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Oops, smwCcontrib, not smwcontrib. —BlittleMcNilsen 00:34, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

I think templates relating to a particular topic should all be the same color so there's a clear connection between them. For example, all templates relating to sprites would be, say, green, and all object-related templates could be orange. — K3fka 13:37, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Add the Article Feedback tool, so users can vote for pages. That will help improving the wiki. Telinc1 (Talk|Contribs.|Email) 09:45, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

This is probably hoping for too much, but there's gotta be a way to stop this persistent spam bot that's been lurking here recently from reregging. This is absolutely absurd. I've seen nothing but spambot edits and spambot deletion/block logs for days! I'm not even kidding. This message and the edit I made to my user page just now are the ONLY non-spam non-deletion/block log edits I've seen in Special:RecentChanges in DAYS! Completely ridiculous. Shouldn't be happening. Besides, what's anyone gonna get by advertising car insurance on a ROM hacking wiki?!?! —BlittleMcNilsen 07:19, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

I think CheckUser, LookupUser, or something of the like should be installed to see if there's a pattern with the user information of the spambots, so we can immediately ban accounts that match this pattern. —BlittleMcNilsen 03:12, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

I can't help but notice the large number of users that look like spambots when I look in the user creation log. In fact, I might be the only human of the 49 users that registered today. Perhaps it would be a good idea to require users to be registered on SMWC before registering here. It should prevent (or cut back on) the huge army of spambots that keep on registering and spamming the wiki.

Also, the wiki's layout seems to be a bit outdated. A more "modern" layout (see WikiMedia Foundation wikis) would be nice. —ShadowFan-X 00:25, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

The reason for the "out of date" layout is because this wiki uses an old version of MediaWiki which doesn't have the "Vector" skin (the site skin WikiMedia wikis use). There's more reasons for upgrading to the latest MediaWiki than just the site skin, though. —BlittleMcNilsen 03:12, 28 January 2012 (UTC)
You'd have to talk to Kieran about that, as I think he's the only one who can install stuff.

- I went ahead and started deleting the Hacking Information on various levels. I can understand why people would want a level guide or such - I personally favour that. But I see no use to information like what music or graphics are used per level. ~ Roy 15:06, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

April 2012

At 17:36, 4 April 2012 (PDT), I added SMWiki to [1]BlittleMcNilsen 23:10, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

July 2012

Add a "Usage" Heading 2 header which has code field warpped in "noinclude" tags in all templates which explain all the paramenters they take and for what are they used. Say I have a template named "TEST" which takes "image", "imagewidth" and "name". On left of the template page, the following appears:
|image = File:TheImageYouWant.ext
|imagewidth = TheWidthOfTheImage
|name = TheNameOfTheThing

And it does not appear when said template is used. Also, I did not include the heading above, because I do not want to mess up the page. Telinc1 (Talk | Contribs.) 20:22, 28 July 2012 (CEST) Do NOT use the code tags, replace them with pre tags. It may be done, but most temmplates are simple enough to figure out by looking at usage. (also, sign your posts with the sign button or --~~~~) --CommunistYoshi (talk) 22:48, 28 July 2012 (CEST)

"Imagewidth has to be added per infobox using template; the infobox raw template supports it though" - Add "imagewidth" support to all templates. (User, Hack, etc.) --Telinc1 (Talk | Contribs.) 21:21, 29 July 2012 (CEST)
